Intersession is really half over?
Well, I have to say that I can't believe that I will officially be off in 1 week and a half. I really like my intersession class right now with the exception of a few students. I think many of them are really benefiting from the instruction and I know they are working hard. I have been focusing on reading comprehension, specifically, main idea and details. We have been using tree maps to find a main idea and the details that go along with it. Today I gave them a main idea and then they had to come up with details and vice-versa. We did one on Mr. Garcia and they gave me four details about him--one little girl raised her hand and said "he is handsome." It was so funny to watch all the kids agree with her as we added this detail to our map. Then I gave them time in workshop to do a tree map using themselves as the main idea. Their details were so adorable. You could really tell who had high self esteem and who did not think much of themselves. It made me sad, but some were adorable. I have a few kids I just want to take home (believe it or not) and than there is some...well, we will just leave it at that. I hope they are learning as much as I think they are and that their teachers will be happy!
