IS IT FRIDAY YET????

I feel like it has been the longest week ever and it is only Tuesday! There is always so much going on--meeting here, meeting there--sometimes I just want to stay in bed. (Or go to another country far, far away!) My students have been quite sleepy this week--perhaps due to the fires?? Speaking of the fires, that is soooo SAD. I can't believe how many there are. We were thinking of moving out by the Santiago fire at one point--pretty scary.

Today one of my student teachers did a fantastic Science lesson with the kids. She was awesome and the kids were so into it. She really engaged them and made it fun. They were learning about the five senses and I really felt they got it. It is so nice to watch her in action--she truly cares about the kids and her teaching.

At recess the other day one of my students told me that one student was not showing mutual respect to her. I almost fainted. (although it sounded like mutat repect but I knew what she was saying!) We talked it over and I was able to get them to talk about their feelings. It was great and I really felt they understood each other as they attentively listened. Tribes is coming along in room 1!!! YEA! (many of them still have not figured out the "right to pass" yet:)

Since it is red ribbon week we are talking about DRUGS. I did a quick mini-lesson from "Too Good For Drugs" and the kids were hilarious. I used pictures to describe a drug (the program has pictures of beer, alcohol, cigarettes, etc.) and when I showed them the beer can they were like "no that is not a drug." In my head I am hearing things like, "my daddy drinks that everyday!"
Anyways, it was pretty hilarious, but they got the most important part--say NO to drugs. In fact, they were chanting it out to recess. I will try to take a picture of our door for red ribbon week and post it next time---make it a great week!

Remember to show mutual respect!
