ONLY 7 DAYS LEFT!!! Wow. I really cannot believe that we are almost off-track. I spent all day Saturday on my report cards, data, and conference stuff. I am done with everything, I just need to conduct my conferences. To me, conferences are good and bad. I like having the time with the parents but it is hard to make some of them realize what an important part of their child's education they are. I am not looking forward to 5 conferences in particular. I have a lot of students who are doing great or at benchmark, but I also have some who really need to step it up. I think that writing is the area that they scored the lowest in. It is just SO much for K. Every year we struggle with this part and every year they raise the rubric. It is pretty amazing that most of my kids could not write more than a few letters or their name 4o days ago and now they are able to write a complete sentence. To me that is progress! But not good enough on the rubric. They need to write 3 sentences on the SAME topic. Wow. I think I wrote my first sentence in 1st grade. Oh well......all I can do is keep modeling and teaching because they will eventually get it. It just takes time and cannot be forced. I must be patient! UGH!
