Today we celebrated St. Patty's Day for the last hour of the day. We wrote a story about a leprechaun who found a pot o' gold and did shamrock patterns for math. I wanted to celebrate with a treat, but I am committed this year to bringing healthy treats. (go Nutrition rep!) I decided to do cucumbers (b/c they are a green veggie) and green cream cheese. I know sounds weird, but it is quite yummy! This was sparked by a students who brought cucumbers for a snack and many of them did not know what they were. I said I would bring some, hence the treat for today. Anyway, we were making them at recess on the benches and one of my kids starts to wolf it down, saying how he lovvvveeeedd it. I said, "oh good you like it" and he said "Oh yes, especially because I am allergic to it!" I said, "WHAT!" and he said, "yes I love it!""Spit it out now!" Out came the cucumber and green cream cheese. I knew I checked my allergy forms and there were no allergies to what I was giving them but I was freaked out. Turns out he thought he was allergic, but he is not. At least is form is signed and it stated he had NO allergies! Kids are hilarious sometimes. Especially when they don't really understand what they are saying.
ps. the treats were a hit!
