Small Moment Writing

I started a new writing unit a few weeks ago with my students and it has been pretty interesting. I am trying to teach them how to take one small moment and stretch it out over several pages (through mini-lessons) Today we made a chart of what writers do when telling about a small moment and than the students were to write about a small moment. Many were just simply writing narratives (which means I need to conference with them on pulling one moment out of their experience to write about). However, two of them were so funny I have to share.

Student #1: She said, "first I had a doggie named Bonita, then she pooped everywhere in the house, and last we gave her away." (the pictures were hilarious!)

Student #2: He said, "One day I was at the beach, and I really had to go to the bathroom. When I went inside and it really smelled bad! Last I went." (His picture for last is hilarious)

I was trying not to laugh when I was listening to them share as I was conferencing. Kids are so cute and interesting......

Any small moments you would like to share?
